• Best Apple iPad Covers – How to Find Them

Posted on January 30th, 2011 No comments
    Mike Aurel Andrew asked:

When choosing the iPad over the Kindle or any other EBook reader one has in mind the extra functionality offered by the device as well as the attention to detail and the passion for excellence that Apple is famous, but keeping in mind the fact that thin and glossy means easy to scratch, one should search for the perfect combination between usability and protection when searching for the best iPad case.

To begin with, the perfect iPad case should take care of several issues which should be addressed by the vast majority of cases and not only the iPad, one and the first one is the shock and drop level of protection this accessory offers as this is the primary purpose of it. Hard corners and front cover are welcome and recommended but this should not stand in the way of usability and easy interaction with the device as this has been seen in a number of covers. Added to this, a firm grip and hold inside the cover should be assured with the help of special holding mechanisms which should not let the device drop or slip out.

Furthermore, the Apple iPad tablet cases should feature a soft interior which will not scratch or damage not only the display but also the back of the device. This should come hand in hand with a material that does not leave dust on the iPad for a wide range of materials are soft and protective but after a period of usage tend to dust-out on the iPad clogging the speakers or the various inout and output ports.

Moreover, there is something more to a case than just the level of protection and this is the fashion side of it. Glossy or mat, shiny orange or plain black are just some of the endless color possibilities one has when searching for a cool iPad case which nowadays can be found mostly anywhere on the market but a good thing to keep in mind is protection over fashion since the iPad could be seriously damaged if the case is not a proper one.

All in all, the search for the best iPad case is not an easy one and should concern both the aspects concerning the level of protection offered by a case and also the style and extra features the iPad case has to offer.

  • Apple iPad Vs Kindle – How Does Apple’s New iPad Compare?

    Bob D Williams asked:

Apple iPad is something new with much anticipation from most reviews. One of the target areas is it will be a replacement for the Kindle reader, and your phone. With this in mind apple is hoping to create a space for the iPad between your smart phone and your home computer.

The iPad weighs 1.5 pounds and is7.47 inches wide and 9.56 inches tall, it is not your phone size and when holding it for long periods it does become heavy.

iPad has a 9.7 inch captive touch screen and technology for above average viewing angles, with a maximum resolution of 1024×768. The Apple processor is a 1GHz A4 and comes with Wi-Fi and Bluetooth. With three storage choices in 16GB, 32GB, and 64GB (not overly large to my thinking) with a battery usage at 10 hours. If you are looking to have a 3G network it is in the plans to come out in May.

iPad has the same apps as an iPhone like Safari web browser, email, photos, calendar, maps, YouTube, contacts, photos, notes, and iPod already installed. Existing apps are mostly compatible with the iPad and includes App Store and iTunes store plus a new iBook store. Work is in progress to bring out new apps for the larger iPad screen and higher resolution. Downloads are like the iTunes with audio books, movies, movie rentals, TV shows, podcasts, music, and iTunes. Some of the drawbacks are it is not light to hold for long periods. You have no multitasking or camera for video conferencing, and the keyboard is not as responsive as you would want.

Aside from these few things it has a fast response time, great screen resolution, and a great reader that is more like reading the book than digital. Time will tell if people are willing to buy another device between a smart phone and a book reader. With the touch screen and the high resolution you will be able to see animations with the text and enjoy the reading experience with younger children. If enough people are willing to pay the price for a better reader it may find its hold in the market and place pressure on Kindle readers, so what is going to be next in the reader wars?

If you are like me with a smart phone, home computer and a laptop where is this going to fit into your plans? Do we need the newest device to show and say we have one or is it truly worth the cost. If you have your laptop already (as of now you cannot do video conferencing) you are not going to replace it with the iPad if you need some of the features it does not have, but are promised to come later. But if it fills your needs for a reader and all of its apps it does look like it can be a good buy for you. And we feel it will take away a lot of sales from kindle readers because it is so versatile. But most of all the display gives you a great view and makes reading very easy.

In our opinion Apple Ipad wins hands down over amazons kindle.

  • Kindle Vs iPad – Will the iPad’s Novelty Put the Lights Out of the Kindle?

    Travis Van Slooten asked:

Putting together a side-by-side Kindle vs iPad review, which device will likely prevail? No doubt about it, the Apple iPad, with its very recent much-talked about launch, is the “in” thing today. Hardcore Apple consumers can hardly wait to get their hands on one as the WiFi versions are expected to ship in late March, while the 3G models are arriving in April. When that time comes, we will no doubt see long lines in front of every Apple store as what happened with the release of the iPhone.

But what of the ebook readers like the Amazon Kindle and the Sony Reader? The e-reader has slowly become a mainstream consumer device, with the Kindle getting the bigger share of the consumer market. Seeing the potential however, many such ebook readers have also cropped up. But the entry of tablet PCs like the iPad which can also more than ably function as an ebook reader may shift the demand to multi-functional devices. Can the iPad really make a significant dent on the ebook reader industry? Let’s weigh the factors.

Starting with the negative, the iPad will be connected to Apple’s own e-book store. This makes sense for those who are still thinking of buying an ebook reading gadget, but if you already own a ton of digital books, you won’t be able to dump them into the iPad. Actual ebook prices are still to be confirmed but there’s talk that purchasing iBooks in the Apple e-book store is going to run you around $12.99 and $14.99. This can be a little pricey if you have to start from scratch. Plus, Amazon’s ebooks are still retailing at $9.99 apiece.

Still, getting an iPad has its own set of benefits as it’s a device that can serve a lot of functions. You will be able to use this big iPhone clone, sans the “phone” to watch high-def movies, TV, browse the web, and play games on a 9.7 inch IPS touch screen. Sticking with Apple standards, the clarity and color is amazing, and it comes with your choice of a 16-GB, 32-GB or 64-GB internal storage. Depending on your needs, prices start out at $499 and end at $829.

On the other hand, the Amazon Kindle is a device designed with the user’s most comfortable and convenient reading experience in mind. Unlike the LCD screen of the iPad, the Kindle is equipped with e-ink display, which many say, is still best for reading for longer periods of time. The Kindle’s battery can last up to two weeks without recharging, so it could also make the perfect traveling companion. The 6-inch model is priced at $259, while the 9.7-inch Kindle DX costs $489.

So which gets our thumbs up in this Kindle vs iPad comparison? Without a doubt, for the gadget geek, the iPad will fit perfectly alongside the MacBook Pro, AirPort Express, Magic Mouse and its smaller counter-part in looks, the iPhone. But for the bookworm just looking to read in the most conducive “environment” and don’t require all of the other stuff, the Kindle is still the best choice on the market today.

  • You Can Read Kindle Books on the iPad

    Sini Saja asked:

If you spend a lot of time sitting on trains or planes, you maybe want to kick back with a good book, or a magazine. The Apple iPad is the best media device of Apple’s three electronic gadgets (including iPad, iPhone and iPod Touch) to read books and magazines. The iPad is something in between a normal laptop computer and pocket electronic device like the iPod Touch.

When you buy iPad, you can download and read books from 2 places: Apple iBooks or from Amazon Kindle store.

At the present time the Apple iBooks store has about 30,000 free books and about 60,000 books from most major publishers. Every book in the store allows you to download a free section (sometimes more than 50 pages long). Price of books is between $9.99 and $14.99.

Kindle store, certainly, has a far better collection of books than iBooks with more than 620,000 paid and free books including the newest best sellers and new releases. Books at Kindle store are less expensive and their price is usually less than $9.99. The Kindle app is optimized for the iPad, providing customers the capability to read Kindle books using this easy-to-use interface. The true benefit of the Kindle app is that you are able to read and sync books with more ebook readers. Amazon Whispersync enables you to automatically syncs your last page read, bookmarks, notes, and highlights across all of your electronic gadget, so you can pick up right where you left off no matter what electronic gadget you are reading on. Therefore, you can start reading a book on the Apple iPad in your house, for example, and then continue reading on your iPhone when you are in your hotel room or when you are standing in line at the airport. Kindle store gives you free book parts; so you can read the first chapter for free before you make a decision to purchase it. After that, books you have purchased are wirelessly transferred to the iPad via Amazon’s servers.

  • Comparing iPad With The Rest

Posted on January 10th, 2011 No comments
    Joseph Then asked:

IPad comparison cannot be done with many of the electronic products available in the market today. Kindle is the closest and the toughest competitor that iPad has. Amazon Kindle is a software and hardware platform that enables rendering and displaying of E books and other digital media.

The comparison with being iPad and Kindle can be done on various aspects. Some of these aspects are in favor of iPad where as the others are in favor of Kindle. The Kindle is commonly known as Amazon Kindle. Some of the advantages of Amazon Kindle over iPad are as mentioned below.

The Kindle advantages over iPad: Kindle has approximately 450,000 books compared to that of which are around 60,000 titles. For the non-Agency model publishers the Kindle books prove to be much cheaper than that of the iPad. The price comparison also has a vast difference. Where the iPad has a price range starting from $500, the Kindle is much cheaper which starts at $259. The Kindle weighs around 10.2 ounces where as iPad is much heavier which weighs 1.5 pounds. Kindle has a much better battery life which lasts for up to 2 weeks when the wireless is turned off. The iPad’s battery life is about 10 to 12 hours in the same conditions. Kindle has an extra feature that lets the user add notes which is absent in iPad. The data that is displayed on Kindle’s screen can be read in direct sunlight. IPad faces some problems in doing so. Various Kindle applications can be used on Mac, PC, Blackberry, iPhone and even on iPad, but the iBook stores that work for it iPad cannot be run on any other system. They may add Mac support and iPhone support down the line.

We have considered Kindle advantages over iPad’s. There is now consider Kindle versus iPad comparison and put limelight on some of the iPad advantages over Kindle.

IPad advantages over Kindle: iPad comes with a sizzle, flash and also looks very pretty. It also has a color LCD that looks better than most of the LCDs. Its screen is bigger and easy to use. You can also use a two-page view on its screen. It is easier to use than Kindle as it has a touch screen and also the search is supposedly excellent. The pay changes are loaded both for fancy animation and quicker speed. It has caught a backlit LCD that proves very useful in night reading and does not require any extra light. Also you can adjust the brightness of screen as needed. Many of the uses have reported that they do not feel any eye strain from an elevated reading session on iPad, which is very common for people who have extended reading sessions on LCD screens. Individual words can be bookmarked in the iPad. Buying a separate e-book reader is avoided as it has its own inbuilt e-book reader

If the users focus is on reading books than Kindle is a most appropriate choice. However some people have a minimum use of e-book reader and more concentrated on other features like using World Wide Web, media options and many other multitasking. In such a case iPad is an appropriate choice. The conclusions cannot be derived in Kindle versus iPad comparison as they both have their own advantages and disadvantages.

  • Should You Get the Apple iPad?

Posted on January 9th, 2011 No comments
    Lily S asked:

Apple launched the iPad Tablet Computer with great fanfare at the end of January. But should you get one?

First of all let’s look at the features of the new iPad tablet. It allows you to browse the internet using Apple’s Safari browser. It allows you to create documents, spreadsheets and presentations using Apple’s iWork 2010 Office Software (which is currently used on Macs). It has an eReader, allowing you to read books on the iPad, and Apple have launched the iBooks store which allows you to buy eBooks directly from Apple for your iPad. It allows you to watch videos, and play games. And you should be able to read newspapers on it as well – the New York Times has already developed an app to allow their newspaper to be downloaded to the iPad.

Essentially Apple have made a single all-purpose one stop tablet computer in a handy size that is portable. Whether you should buy one depends on what your own needs are.

Book readers were disappointed to learn that the iPad did not use the iInk technology that is incorporated in the Amazon Kindle and Sony Digital reader. (iInk technology is kind to the eyes and allows you to read for hours without strain). However, Apple pointed out that their device was backlit and allowed you to read in bed. If you are a book-lover who only wants an eBook reader you might want to try the Sony Digital reader or Amazon’s 6″ Kindle, both of which are cheaper than the iPad (because both only read books and don’t have the other functions of the iPad).

If you are a business person who spends a lot of time travelling, an iPad might be ideal for you. It will allow you to create documents, contact your office via the internet and read newspapers such as the Financial Times, all on the go, on a single tablet. And the size of the iPad (9.7″ screen and weighing 1.5 pounds) makes it less cumbersome to carry than a portable laptop. The iPad doesn’t have a USB port – but Apple sell dongles that attach to the iPad which do have ports and which you can use to transfer documents to and from your PC.

Gamers might also be interested in the iPad – but note that Sony are also releasing the Sony Dash, which allows you to play games, listen to music, watch video and browse the internet, and is cheaper than the iPad (because it doesn’t have the eReader functions or the office functions). However, if you are a gamer who also wants to be able to write essays, do work and surf the net, then the iPad is a better solution.

If you simply like gadgets and want a handy sized tablet computer to use while in the garden or while lying on the sofa, then the iPad is a must-have. It’s simply the most advanced tablet device on the market right now. Apple have released a software developers kit so that software houses can develop apps for the iPad. As with the iPhone, it is the apps that will make or break the device, and it is likely that the quality and breath of the apps mean that you should go ahead and buy the Apple iPad tablet.

  • Be a Tester and Own an Apple iPad Or a Kindle DX

Posted on January 1st, 2011 No comments
    Nelson Gately asked:

Would it be an Apple iPad or a Kindle DX?

This is the predicament of many book-lovers and students who are tired of carrying volumes of textbooks and paperbacks around with them. It will be far more convenient to simply have an entire library stored in a portable reader that they can carry in a purse or a small bag.

Do you know that you can get an Apple iPad or a Kindle DX for free?

You might think that this is some sort of scam however, there are actually authentic offers that let you test and keep a product free. The purpose of these offers is mainly to attract attention to a website being sponsored by a number of other authentic businesses. There are always program requirements that must be met before one can qualify to test and own a product but they are always achievable. What are these requirements?

First you must register with the product testing site, then complete some surveys and sponsor offers. You are not required to buy anything, merely try out some new products offered by sponsors. Read for any specifications on how long the trial period lasts and how many offers must be completed. Simply do your end of the bargain and you will surely receive your e-book reader without parting with almost $500.

Being a product tester is a good way to own high-end items like an Apple iPad or a Kindle DX for free. Aside from this, since you are asked to test new products at no cost, you also get all sort of things like sample cosmetics, give away clothes, pet foods, games, music, anything. These products you can amass at no cost may come in handy – you can give them away as party favors, to charity, as presents to kids, etc.

  • Which Is Better? Amazon Kindle Or Apple iPad?

Posted on December 31st, 2010 No comments
    Srayanath Srinath asked:

Three years ago, Amazon came up with the eBook reader known as kindle. It was a great success during that time. It was small and low in weight and the people just loved to carry it with them wherever they go. Three years after, in April 2010, apple came up with one of the most awaited launch and that was iPad. No one had thought that the people would start comparing the kindle and the iPad. However, they are now being compared on behalf of many factors. If you will consider them on behalf of the eBook reader then you will definitely find out that the iPad is better. On many behalf, you will find the iPad to be better but there are some of the features, which make both of the equally good.

Do you know that kindle is quite light? It is just 0.16lb and this is just the half of the iPad, which is 1.5lb in weight. Thus, it is quite easy to carry the kindle from one place to another and this fact make the Amazon kindle a favorite for many people. You can carry them in your big pocket and turn it on when you want to read any eBook. However, do you know why iPad is a better eBook reader as compared to the Amazon kindle? Well, you will definitely find out that the kindle has some complex mechanism. If you want to move from one page to another then you will have to make sure that you press some button. However, if you will look at the iPad then you will find the comfort as it is equipped with the touch screen and thus you can work very fast through various pages of the eBook.

Kindle is an eBook reader and the apple iPad is the tablet PC. You need to know that they both are just awesome but some of the facilities in the apple iPad are just mind blowing and the first thing, which you would site, is the touch screen format. You can get an access to various bookstores quite easily from both of them. If you are using the kindle then you can buy the books from Amazon and if you are using iPad then you can buy books from iTunes, iBookstore and some more stores are there as well.

As far as the rates are concerned, you will definitely find out that the kindle is cheaper as compared to the iPad. The cost of the kindle is just $379 whereas the cost of the iPad is tagged at $499. You cannot access internet and play games on the kindle whereas the iPad is fully equipped with these facilities. That is why you will find that the battery life of the kindle is quite great and more as compared to the battery life of the i Pad.

To balance the equation you should know that at $499, you will not be getting the Wi-Fi connectivity and 3G accesses with IPad and thus you can say that it is very expensive. However, you will take all the facts in your mind then you will certainly realize that both of them are equally good.

  • Has the iPad Replaced the Kindle?

Posted on December 25th, 2010 No comments
    Nathaniel Lewis asked:

The ability to carry your favorite reading material with you and have it available is amazing. When the Amazon Kindle first launched, it was a must item for me. I had subscriptions to various news papers and magazines and my love for reading was… re-Kindled.

Years later, along came the iPad. The magical device described by the CEO of Apple. With the thousands of apps users have at their disposal, users and Kindle owners can download their already purchased content to their iPad device. Does this make the Kindle obsolete? I would think not. Does the iPad replace the Kindle? You decide.

In my opinion, I believe there has been a cause and effect since the release of the iPad. The effect that its had on Amazon was to lower their prices to possibly capture customers thinking about buying an iPad (but can’t afford one). Again this is my opinion; however, lowering the prices of the Kindle was a smart and strategic move by the makers. There are consumers who see no need (at the present) to own an iPad. What happens when they learn more about this device? Could they very well decide to make the purchase and Kindle loses another percentage of their market share? I think this could very well happen.

The iPad has not replaced the Kindle, but I feel that Kindle has to compete for its survival. While it is true, the Kindle can be read with no problems in the bright sun light while the iPad has issues with glare. There are commercials that exploit this and bring to the attention of consumers.

Has the iPad replaced my Amazon Kindle that I purchased about three years ago? Yes, I originally purchased the first generation Kindle. The Kindle was and still is a great electronic reading device. When the iPad came along, my thinking was’ “why have two devices?” Since I have access to and can read my books on my iPad, I no longer need the Kindle, so I sold it. Shortly after I sold my Kindle, the prices dropped to their now existing prices (under $140 for a base model). When this happened, I could only think, was this reflective to what other Kindle owners were doing and it caused Amazon to lower prices so consumers could afford a new kindle vice a used one?

The individual customer decides if their iPad is a replacement for their Kindle. Both are great products, but let’s face it, only one can be the star and the customer that’s attracted to many bells and whistles, might decide to go with the product that will do more than allow you to read a book.

  • Can Apple iPad Beat Kindle Hollow?

    Christopher Peter Allinson asked:

It is true that the contest of Apple iPad vs Kindle is getting hotter with the passing of each day and all these make tens of thousands of critics, sales personnel and reporters take pleasure in the same more intensely. But it is also true, as per experts, whether in respect of prices, affordability, alluring yet competent features and above all in appearance Kindle outshines Apple iPad. Well, all these have become old and the center of attention these days is another story. It is being hard that founding fathers of iPad, being defeated by Kindle disastrously, are all set to teach the later a lesson of lifetime. Can this happen at any time?

It’s highly difficult to answer this confusing question at the moment but anything is possible in this fast changing world. And the baton of winner in the contest of Apple iPad vs Kindle may go to iPad permanently. Well, it requires a few words to write the same prospect, but to transform it into a reality, there is the need of lots of factors and dedication and perseverance. It is an uphill task altogether. It is not an easy task too… between Apple iPad vs Kindle, Amazon trades content, entailed in hardware business to push its e-book sales. Then again, Apple is engaged with the trade of hardware, also leading online media store in the globe. And it is true that the iPad has arrived later on. Even if it tries to win the contest of Apple iPad vs Kindle its sole attention is with iPods, Apple’s netbook, considered as useless by its COO himself. Can Apple win the battle in this baffled state?
