Abhishek L Kumar asked: Random Access Memory popularly called as RAM indicates the computer memory. The central processing unit will do all the processing works that take place in a computer. To be simple, when you want to perform a basic calculation of adding two numbers, you have to give 2 input numbers.
The computer will provide the output after adding the numbers. The intermediate results while doing the calculation process will be stored in RAM. It is used to store all the intermediate results and other data while the operating system is active. Hence, RAM plays a vital role when it comes to effective functioning of the system. There are several factors to be considered while buying RAM.
- There are several models like DDR1, DDR2, DDR3 and the most recent ones are the DDR3 RAMs. It is better to the recently launched series and they are inexpensive.
- A minimum of 512MB of RAM is highly recommended for any kind of users. Professional gamers and multimedia designers would require RAM up to 8 GB even.
- Make sure that while buying RAM, it should be compatible with the motherboard and other hardware components.
- Make your research online before you buy RAM. Gain maximum information through the various websites and decide the model and memory capacity of RAM that will suit your purpose.
- Pay attention to the various numbers of slots provided in the motherboard.
- The performance of the computer will not fully dependent on the size of the RAM memory. Do not have an 8GB RAM if your processor does not have a speed of greater than 2 GHz. The functionalities can never be matched.
