I got my Sony Vaio laptop VGN-SZ220 a year ago.
It’s a wonderful laptop. Sony is really “like no others”.
Okay, nothing is always smooth in life. This is especially true and it happens even much faster with computer machine.
To make a long story short, my powerful laptop with 120GB hard drive is now filled up with half of the storage.
Now every time I turn it on, it takes like 15 minutes just to load the window! “It’s crazy”, I thought.

    I’m a “creative-patience person” I guess ( smile ).
I put it up for a month and went around with a lazy trick. It is to use Hibernate mode to put the computer to sleep instead of shutting it down completely.
This trick worked really well as I didn’t have to wait for the computer to load anymore.

Again, thing is not staying smooth for long with computer thingy.
Using Hibernate mode doesn’t replace shutting down mode.
I use a wireless internet access service and this device for some reasons it doesn’t pick up signal when the computer is turned back on from Hibernate Mode.

Here comes a better trick after I kicked my lazy gremlin away for a moment.
I found a free utility which I downloaded and tested it on my PCs.
It’s really neat. It allows me to control those start up applications which automatically loaded every time the computer is turned on.
With one click, I can disable those unwanted ones.
I just set it up it one. And WOW! Now my dear pc is back with 2 minutes loading!

I highly recommend Startup Control Panel. You can do a search in Google for more information.
The one I am using is from mlin.net.
