  • Review of the Archos 9 PC Tablet

Posted on October 30th, 2010 No comments
    Marqus Smith asked:

Archos 9 could generate quite a commotion during the recent times. It is a netbook that is fashioned like a tablet PC complete with augmented touch screen functionality. It has become quite natural for potential customers to research on the internet before investing on a costly gadget (this netbook retails at $600). Here lies the problem; it seems that the usual crowd of over enthusiastic reviewers found this device to be uninteresting. Reading one or two defamatory reviews is more than ample for an average customer to lose interest with the product. In the subsequent passages, you will realize that Archos 9 has many features that are yet to be connived in any of the competing netbooks.

One of the best attributes that has been cited in the review websites is the inclusion of touch screen on a netbook. Instead of lugging around a miniaturized laptop, now people get to flaunt their priced possession in the form of a miniaturized tablet PC. The device is sufficiently powered to run the everyday tasks like listening to music, watching a movie and browsing through the internet. With 1 GB of physical memory, it can be touted to be extremely responsive to the fingers!

Secondly, the product is preloaded with Microsoft’s newest OS – Windows 7. Industry reviewers and experts claim this OS to be the best one out there ever since Windows XP was released. It is faster than the other OSs released by Microsoft and hence, it complements the Archos 9 with advanced functions. The OS is also lighter when it comes to battery consumption – no wonder the Archos 9 can clock a maximum of five hours of battery backup time. The included processor (Intel Atom Z510) also lends a hand while augmenting the battery backup times.

In some of the reviews you might find them lamenting about the “underpowered” processor. Well, it is a netbook after all and one cannot expect it to function just like your over-clocked desktop or laptop. Give it some time and you will realize that certain features included into the OS, namely ReadyBoost and Superfetch will speed up the machine in no time. If viable, you can also opt for a physical memory upgrade, which will be done for a nominal price by the vendor. Countless reviews have praised the build quality of the Archos 9 – the product feels quite stable in your hands.

The Archos 9 also supports high definition video playback. Although the default resolution of the screen (1024×600) will play spoilsport, you are never going to realize the differences. The presence of ample connectivity options will ensure that you are always connected to a Wi-Fi network. Bluetooth support will enable you to transfer files back and forth the machine. I must say that the device can be termed as an “ultraportable” because it weighs just 800 grams. The manufacturer will load a host of software into the device and this includes office applications too. This enabled one to get started with the device, as soon as they lay their hands on it!

  • Could You Use a Tablet PC?

    Jeffrey Wendland asked:

Do you need a Tablet PC?

First off, what is a tablet pc? Tablet pc is a great name for it because it literally is like a tablet, or a pen and paper notebook. It is a slate-shaped computer that is easy to take with you on the go. The user operates the touch screen with a digital pen, a stylus, or even a finger.

This is more convenient that the typical keypad or mouse of a desktop pc for when you are on the go. The functionality of a tablet pc is great when a laptop or pen and paper may not be appropriate due to being on the go, or because pen and paper does not come with the software of a tablet pc.

Tablet pc’s come in two forms, slate or convertible. One is not necessarily better then the other, it is just user preference. Slate style Tablet PC’s come with a stylus, or digital pen as its main way for user interface. The convertible style is much like a notebook in many ways, but a main difference from notebook is that the screen can swivel.

The difference in the convertible to the slate is that the convertible comes with a build in keyboard and the slate does not. To use as a traditional laptop, the slate tablet style requires being connected to a docking station or having an optional keyboard plugged in or connected by BlueTooth to use a keyboard.

There is a weight difference between the two. The slate style Tablet PC usually weighs around 3.5 pounds and the convertible weighs 1-2 pounds more. For most people, the slate style is what is preferred due to its lighter weight and it offers more features.

But if you find that you need a keyboard often, it is probably best to get the convertible style. There is also a less used Hybrid series. The Hybrid shares qualities of both the slate and convertible style by having a detachable keyboard.

Nearly every Tablet PC comes with built-in wireless networking. In order for a Tablet PC to send or receive data in real time you must be connected to a wireless network.

The battery life usually last from 2-6 hours depending on the model you choose. However, it is good to keep in mind that using the built-in wireless networking can use up the batter life a lot faster, but still should be good for at least 2 hours of use.

There are several advantages to using Tablet PC’s to notebooks.

There is a natural ease to using a pen for sketching or writing notes compared to a keyboard and mouse.
There is no jerky mouse movement like on notebooks which can allow you to pay attention to what is important, not worrying about trying to aim the mouse perfectly.
Tablet PC’s are very slim, and are smaller then typical laptops which makes them easier to carry and use in a flash.

Tablet PC’s are gaining popularity with many professionals for their portability, ease of use, and their high functionality. The key is finding which Tablet PC is right for you. If you want to learn more about Tablet PC’s, go to http://www.tabletpctime.com

  • Buying Tips For Lenovo Tablets

    Amy Everet asked:

If you are looking to buy a new laptop, you should seriously consider buying a Lenovo tablet. Lenovo is a pioneering laptop manufacturer offering a wide of laptops and related computer accessories. The following tips will help you buy a Lenovo laptop without even stepping out of your house.

First and foremost, you should make a decision regarding the features you want for your tablet. These would include memory, hard disk capacity, speed, and graphics. You should make a list of each specific feature you desire and the particular kind of computing power you are trying to get. You should also decide on a budget before starting your search for a tablet, as it’s never desirable to spend more money than you can manage to afford.

Next, you should check out the Lenovo Company’s official web page. It contains a catalog of PC tablets and related computer accessories offered by the company. You should read up the specifications of each item to see which one best suits you. You should also check the prices to ensure that the product is within your budget.

One crucial factor that needs to be considered is how the laptop will be used. If you are a person who spends most of your time behind a desk, then you are likely to see keyboard as a great advantage. Thus, you can consider buying a larger model of PC tablet since size and weight will not be an issue for you. On the other hand, if you travel a great deal and need to work while on the go, then small and lightweight tablets may be more suitable for you.

The next thing you need to consider is whether to purchase a standard PC tablet or to put one up yourself using the Lenovo web page. The biggest advantage of going for the latter option is that you can get the exact tablet that you are looking for. However, the drawback of this approach is that customization usually costs more than buying a standard laptop.

Once you have found the right Lenovo tablet, you should click on the “Purchase” button on the web page. The web page will ask you for your payment, billing and shipping information. Before finalizing the deal, you should read through the warranty information and the company’s return policy for fear that you encounter any problems with the new PC tablet.
