jkOnTheRun- HP 2730p Tablet PC
Posted on November 26th, 2010 25 commentsKevinCTofel asked:
James Kendrick of jkOnTheRun gives a tour of the HP EliteBook 2730p Convertible Notebook or Tablet PC. The 2730p is a thin and light notebook with a swivel screen that performs full Tablet PC functions in addition to being a sterling notebook computer. James gives a comparison with the previous model, the 2710p, and shows the slice battery and slim docking station. Find out why James likes the 2730p so much.

its good they stick to a form factor, at least any outlays on dockstation and battery packs are not wasted on future models, I hope HP keep this concept going on this line

You don’t have a Core 2 Duo. You have a 2.2GHz Turion X2.
Also no Wacom digitizer.
A very different market with this machine.

You should change the headline to “2730p vs 2710p”. Half of this information would only be useful if one was an owner of the 2710p. I doubt a lot of people upgrade from 2710 to 2730, rendering 50% of this video pretty much useless.

hi, do you know if there’s any application that will allow to use pen on pdf documents in this tablet? not “typing,” but writing/marking using this tablet pen- like one can do on word docs? thanks!

A couple things add or change to be the perfect tablet: higher res like 1440×900, touch screen and a low profile d3 graphic chip like the nVidia 9400M then this little sucker is the perfect tablet.
On other note I think the 3G is a must addon as a default feature since it is a elitebook and is design to be “mobil”.

Thanks for the review. I checked on HP`s website and it seems the 2730p is cheaper than the 2710p for the same specs. Any idea why?

Well, this is somewhat helpful but everything seems to be “absolutely awesome!” I need to know the cons as well as the pros. Not just the pros like you are trying to sell it to me. And no, there can’t be absolutely no cons at all.

That’s one of their best features, of course you can! The majority of tablet PCs out there have 512 levels of pressure, while good graphics tablets have 1024. However, it’s higly unprobable you will spot a difference between the two. look for “drawing tablet pc” on youtube.

question.. for these tablet notebooks.. can u draw using the tablet part? because instead of getting a wacom tablet.. id like one of these notebooks instead

In just a few more years,Optical drives on portable tablets/laptops may no longer be needed. External Servers (like MS/HP Windows Home Server), or cloud servers – Google/Gmail Apps; will store you data if you’ll need to format the internal SSD. Because HDD space will become so cheap. Now if only HP can do the TX2z this small or bump the CPU dual-core speed & video card performance + Firewire + HDMI + eSata then we’re in business! HP Don’t call this EliteBook if it cannot deliver Elite specs!
